Ovation of the Seas
Overview
Key Highlights
Innovative elevated viewing platform: The North Star®
One of the most striking architectural features on the ship's exterior is... North Star® This is a jewel-shaped glass capsule-like gondola mounted on a hydraulic arm on the ship's deck. This innovation has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest observation deck on a cruise ship, capable of lifting passengers to a height of over 300 feet (approximately 91 meters) above sea level and rotating 360 degrees. 1 This design allows passengers to experience a bird's-eye view of the sea and harbor, a perspective not possible from a regular viewing deck, especially when the ship sails past places of stunning natural beauty such as Alaskan glaciers or Sydney Harbour.
1.2 Revolutionizing the Entertainment Space: Two70® and Vistarama™
The area at the stern of the ship, which was often the dining room on older ships, has been transformed into... Two70® This multi-purpose space is one of the most technologically sophisticated in the ocean. During the day, it functions as a large living room, bathed in natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows equivalent to two and a half stories, offering a panoramic 270-degree view.
However, the real magic happens at night, when technology... Vistarama™ It came into play by transforming those transparent glass walls into a high-resolution 12K display screen over 100 feet wide, integrating with the operation of... Roboscreens® This consists of six LED screens mounted on a robotic arm, which can move, twist, rotate, and assemble into various images freely. These screens work in sync with the acrobatics, lighting, and sound, creating an immersive entertainment experience where viewers feel as if they have been transported into the world of the performance.
1.3 Multi-purpose indoor activity area: SeaPlex®
To address the unpredictable weather conditions along various sailing routes, Royal Caribbean has created… SeaPlex® This is the largest indoor active space at sea. 7 The standout feature of SeaPlex is its ability to transform into a versatile functional space. At one point, it might be a standard-sized basketball court, but later it can be converted into a roller skating rink or a trapeze school. A key highlight, however, is its ability to function as a... Bumper Cars The first of its kind in the world on a cruise ship, seamlessly bringing the fun of a land-based amusement park to the middle of the ocean.
1.4 Zero Gravity Experience: RipCord® by iFLY®
For those seeking thrills. Ovation of the Seas A skydiving simulator has been installed on the ship's deck, named... RipCord® by iFLY® This vertical wind tunnel technology allows passengers to experience airborne sensations similar to real skydiving, under the supervision of experts and in a safe environment. This marks the first time such an extreme activity has been offered on a cruise ship.
1.5 Technology for Relaxation: Virtual Balcony
In terms of cabin design, the ship has addressed the weaknesses of "windowless" (Inside Stateroom) rooms by incorporating technology. Virtual Balcony This was achieved by installing an 80-inch, floor-to-ceiling high-resolution screen to display real-time footage from cameras mounted on the outside of the ship, along with an ambient sound system. This created the feeling of having a private balcony where occupants could see the outside weather, significantly reducing feelings of claustrophobia and seasickness.
